Bless All Who Serve
Naval Commander and Unitarian Universalist minister Rev. Matthew Tittle with his wife Air Force Major Gail Tittle edited a pocket volume of soldier’s prayers and mediations, called Bless All Who Serve: Sources of Hope, Courage and Faith for Military Personnel and Their Families. The UUMMGL distributes a free copy to each Navy recruit, who requests one. It is the #2 requested religious literature, after the Bible. Free copies are available for active duty military from the Church of the Larger Fellowship Military Ministry. The UUA Bookstore sells it to the general public.
becoming: A Spiritual Guide for Navigating Adulthood
A spiritual companion for young adults and all who live amid transitions and tensions. Dozens of carefully selected readings address themes that are prominent for people in their twenties and early thirties. The UUMMGL distributes a free copy to each Navy recruit, who requests one.
War Zone Faith
Unitarian Universalist minister and Army chaplain Rev. George Tyger wrote a book of meditations about his tours of duty as a chaplain in Afghanistan, War Zone Faith: An Army Chaplain’s Reflections from Afghanistan. It is available from the UUA Bookstore. The UUMMGL has donated a copy to the Great Lakes Naval Recruit Training Command Chapel library.
Soul Repair
Unitarian Universalist theologians Rita Nakashima Brock and Gabriella Lettini address the issue of healing and support from a faith perspective in their book Soul Repair: Recovering from Moral Injury after War. The UUA Bookstore offers it for sale. The UUMMGL has donated a copy to the Great Lakes Naval Recruit Training Command Chapel library.
